Last September 2020, with the family, we decided to treat ourselves to a trip to the Amalfi Coast. In the year 2020, when tourists are unfortunately very few, I, Stefano and the kids decided to visit Positano, Ravello and the beautiful Amalfi!
The sweet memory of lemon ice cream, sun, breeze, the beauty of the sea are still alive and closing my eyes I return to these places that are truly unique!
But I would like to tell you about this particular meeting with this wonderful artist, in his studio in a Saracen tower in Praiano, a village on the coast between Amalfi and Positano. We were going down to the beach, and we were intrigued by this little goat outside the tower… after all, the tower had its door open and somehow… it was calling us!
That’s how we met Paolo Sandulli, an artist from Avellino who has been living on the Amalfi Coast since 1993, in Praiano, where he devotes himself to sculpture and terracotta. Some of his works embellish the garden of Palazzo Murat in Positano, others the rooms of the Syrene Bellevue in Sorrento, the prestigious restaurant L’Olivo of Capri Palace in Anacapri and others still the villas and the tower of the island of Li Galli. Paintings and sculptures are in private collections in Italy and abroad … while he … in his intriguing simplicity … was there, in the tower to talk to us and tell us stories, illustrating his works with a grace and passion that amazed us and the children!
Here we are with him, here in some photos… equipped with masks… in what is the strange summer of 2020. Today, one of his prints is in our home… the one depicting the beach that was our paradise during our stay on the Amalfi Coast!
Thank you Paolo! It was really a pleasure to meet you!
